The answer is simple, but it’s worth dispelling calmly, without myths. Because sulfites in wine aren’t a black-and-white issue. Rather, it’s a matter of the source, dosage, style of wine, and how the winemaker conducts the entire process.

Does organic wine have sulfites – short and honest

Yes, organic wine can contain sulfites. And very often it does.

Sulfites can appear in organic (certified organic) wine in two ways. First, they form naturally during fermentation. Second, the winemaker may add sulfur dioxide (SO2) to make the wine more stable, better able to withstand shipping, and to keep it fresh longer after opening.
