Our Origins

Winnica Jura —
from the first vines

Winnica Jura started with a fascination — with the land, the climate and a question: can a Polish vineyard produce truly exceptional wines? On the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, among limestone hills and a dry microclimate, the answer is: yes.

We planted the first vines with the conviction that wine should taste of the place it comes from. Today, Winnica Jura is a certified organic producer with its own recognisable character — no compromises in the vineyard or in the bottle.

Rybna, Czernichów commune — 30 minutes from Kraków, but at a completely different pace. Here, time is measured by the seasons of the vine.

The people behind the vineyard

Marcin Miszczak — Winemaker & Co-founder

Political scientist, entrepreneur, author and dancer with a remarkably colourful, international life story. He spent over 20 years in the United States. A graduate of the prestigious University of Chicago, during his career in the US he was a political scientist — working for the American government and running an internet company. For over a decade he was a dancer and teacher of Argentine tango, first in Washington, D.C. and later in Kraków. It was in Argentina that he immersed himself in the world of wine. In 2015, together with his wife Joanna, he founded an organic vineyard in Rybna, a village near Kraków. His guiding motto in life: “no risk, no zysk” — no risk, no gain.

Joanna Miszczak — Sommelier & Co-founder

A history teacher by training and a licensed Kraków city guide. She loves classical music and the prose of Remarque. It was on a trip to Italy that she discovered her greatest passion — wine, a subject whose knowledge she keeps deepening and sharing with others during tastings. She completed WSET Level 3 in London.

Natural wine
from the Jura limestone

We believe wine begins in the soil, not the cellar. Every decision — from pruning to bottling — flows from respect for the Jura terroir and the rhythm of the year.

—Jura Terroir — limestone bedrock, continental temperature swings, low rainfall — a character that cannot be replicated
—Minimal intervention — spontaneous fermentation, minimal filtration, sulphur used sparingly
